Eclipse Europa Tomcat memory issue solved
Posted by Keith under Java
I wrote that Eclipse Europa’s WTP Tomcat memory setting is a bit difficult to find, and some web app using lots of memory gets heap memory error:

I finally figured out how, and it’s pretty simple. I just couldn’t find it in new interface.
- Set up the Tomcat server first. And bring up “Servers” tab.
- Then double click on the Tomcat server entry. It will bring up Tomcat configuration screen as shown. Click on “Open launch configuration”

- Then another pop-up window will come up. Enter memory configuration in “VM argguments” section.

That’s it!

Palm S/W: PalmPDF
Posted by Keith under Cool Apps
There’re several options to read PDF files on Palm:
- Adobe Reader
Sync supported, PDF will be converted to Palm file. Only 320×320 supported. - PalmPDF
Just drop PDF file into SD card. Slow. - Convert using various software.
My recommendation
Don’t attempt to read PDF file on Palm (or PocketPC). In anyways, it’s slow and cumbersome. If you have to, use PalmPDF for Palm TX or Vista. Adobe Reader only uses 320×320 screen, and its sync module may not work on Vista. The best way is convert PDF into different format that Palm can handle well. There are several ways to do this — this is not explained here.
Adobe Reader - Exceprt from the site:
Adobe Reader for Palm OS
Adobe® Reader® for Palm OS® software lets you view Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files on handheld devices running Palm OS. Now take your digital editions, documents, and Adobe Photoshop® Album slide shows from your desktop with you on your Palm OS device.

Adobe Reader for Palm OS conveniently reflows Adobe PDF text to fit and be easily read on small screens, while preserving graphics and images.
Adobe Reader for Palm OS includes two components that work together:
- The desktop application (and conduit during HotSync®) runs on your desktop computer. It prepares PDF files for the Palm OS and transports them to the user’s handheld device.
- The reader is the Palm OS application that runs on the Palm OS device, designed to accommodate the characteristics of small-screen devices.
PalmPDF - Excerpt from the site:
PalmPDF
The first real PDF Viewer for all Palm OS 5.x devices. PalmPDF is a port based on Xpdf (copyright 1996-2005 Glyph & Cog, LLC). Please have a look into the ReadMe_PalmOS.txt file to see the changes between the different versions. Check the ToDo.txt file to see what’s planed for the future.
During development great importance was attached to stability. If you find an error please don’t hesitate to contact me. I will try to remove it in the next release. Nevertheless, if you like PalmPDF, it would be great if you support my work with a donation. Contact
